Self awareness is one the most essential bases of education. The concept of “self” as a topics of anthropology, is also, a fundamental concept in psychology, especially humanism approach. Islamic mysticism which has been rooted in Islamic original teachings is a school that focuses on self and self –awareness. The main aim of the present study is to compare the concept of self between humanistic psychology and Islamic mysticism perspectives With this aim, at first the views Maslow and Rogers as the principal representatives of humanistic psychology and the views of Najmuddin Razi and Azizuddin Nasaffi as the representatives of Islamic Sufism are studied and then the similarities and differences of these views in terms of the concept of “self”. This study was a qualitative kind that was done by the Comparative method. The results show although there are some differences between two approaches, but also, we can find many similarities about self and self –awareness between them and there is a possibility for constructive dialogue between them.
