Abstract

One of the causes of anger is people’s failure to solve their everyday family problems, therefore, learning problem solving methods and using it in child rearing practices can prevent parents’ ag-gressive behaviors toward children. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parents’ training on problem solving skills and their ability to manage their anger. Parents of 29 children volunteered to participate in the problem solving workshops. The workshops were carried out in 9 sessions, two hours each week. Measures used were Parents’ Child Rearing Style Questionnaire and Parental Anger Assessment. Results showed that parents’ problem solving training is effective in reducing parents' anger toward children’s problematic behaviors and im-proving their child rearing style.
