Relationship between Family Communication Pattern and Personality Traits with Psychological Well Bing in Multiple Sclerosis Patients

Abstract

Today MS "multiple sclerosis" is one of the most current disease on which less psychological research specialized to it rather than other illnesses. So, purpose of this paper is to consider relationship between family communication patterns and personality traits with psychological well-being by intermediate of resiliency among MS patients . Research society included all MS patients from Fars state who 200 persons (male & female) were selected by sampling method  and  then they answered to NEO personality traits  questionnaire ( Costa & Mc Care), Revision Tools of Family communication patterns  (Koerner & Fitzpatrick), ARS adult resilience scale questionnaire (friborg) and psychological well-being (Ryff). In addition to descriptive methods (using median, standard deviation, correlative matrix) statistical hierarchical regression methods were used, too, in order to analysis data's. Results show that two dimensions of family communication patterns – i.e. conversation-orientation and conformity-orientation – have the prediction power for resiliency and psychological well-being and among these 5 factors of personality traits just extroversion can  predict resiliency and psychological well-being. Also resiliency have significant intermediative role in family communication patterns, personality traits and psychological well-being.
