Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Nine Dark Personality Traits Questionnaire in the Iranian population. For this purpose, from the statistical population of all adults (over 18 years old) living in Tehran, a sample of 540 people was selected in a purposeful and accessible way. Subjects in the study answered the 9 Dark Characteristics Questionnaire (Musagen, Hilbig and Zetler, 2018) personality. Data were analyzed using SPSS-23 statistical software. The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that 83 questions were loaded on 9 factors, which together explained 46% of the variance of the questionnaire of the nine dark personality traits. Also, Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the whole questionnaire of 83 questions was calculated to be 0.93, which showed the appropriate internal coordination of the questions. The results of confirmatory factor analysis with AMOS software and structural equation modeling method also showed that the nine-factor model of the questionnaire fits with the data. . In general, the findings indicate that the psychometric properties of the questionnaire are appropriate in the Iranian population and this tool can be used in research.
