A causal model to explain High risk behaviours in high school students based on Identity Processing styles with mediation of School Burnout

Abstract

This study’s aim was to investigate and design a causal model to explain high risk behaviours in high school students based on identity processing styles with mediation of school burnout. In this study, 221 of Shiraz high school students were selected by random sampling method. The method of this study was correlation and multiple regression. 3 questionnaires were used to collect data include Identity styles inventory (ISI 6G), Maslach burnout inventory (MBI) and Iranian Adolescents Risk-taking scale (IARS). The data were analyzed using AMOS and software. Findings showed that normative and avoidant identity styles and also school burnout can directly predict high risk behaviors in high school students. Informational identity style was not significant with high risk behaviours. Informational and normative identity styles also indirectly and by mediation of school burnout also significantly predict high risk behaviours in high school students but this indirect way was not significant for avoidant style. The results can be used in all sources of educational plans, schools, etc.
