The Role of the Early Maladaptive Schemas in Predicting the Students' Career Adaptability

Abstract

While today's world of careers is experiencing repeated changes, Savickas introduces career adaptability as the most crucial dimension in growth and development of career path.

Due to the importance of career adaptability , the study different psychological structures such as the primary maladaptive schemas necessitates. The aim of the present survey has been to answer the question, "which field/s of schemas has the most influence upon students' career adaptability?"

The method of study is descriptive correlation research, and Young's primary maladaptive schemas questionnaire and Savickas' career adaptability questionnaire are the couple of tools utilized in this survey. The statistic population includes all the university students of country in the year 1399, The sampling method was non-random, with the maximum change and sample volume including 849 students. The data analysis is performed by SPSS 24th edition, through step by step regression.

According to the results achieved from 5 fields of schemas, four fields of " Impaired autonomy and performance","vigilance"," Impaired limits", and "Disconnection and Rejection" together explained %21 of variation of (career adaptability), and "orientation" as the other field was unable to explain this variable.

Due to the critical role of schemas in different dimensions of life including career adaptability, it is recommended to help students recognize and adjust their maladaptive schemas.
