Investigating the Mediating Role of Psychological Needs and Sense of Control in the Relationship between Social Support and Acute Stress among First Grade Teachers in Tehran

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of psychological needs and feelings of control in the relationship between social support and acute stress among first grade high school teachers in Tehran.
Method: The statistical population of this research was given by all the first high school teachers in Tehran in the academic year 2020-21. The statistical sample was 320 people who were selected according to the prevalence of coronavirus. The instruments used in the present study were the Wax et al. Social Support Scale, the Guardia et al. the Covid-19 Stress Scale (CSS) and the Rutter Control Resource Scale. Their validity had been proven in previous research. Pearson correlation coefficient, regression and path analysis were used to analyze the results.
Findings: Findings showed that psychological needs and sense of control in the relationship between social support and acute stress among primary school teachers in Tehran play a significant mediating role.
