Introduction: To measure the valid happiness of middle-aged women, attention should be paid to their personality, physical, social, and psychological characteristics. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the validity of the Middle-Aged Women's Happiness Questionnaire by Shin et al. (2021) in Iranian middle-aged women.
Materials and Methods: This research employed a quantitative correlational descriptive study design. The statistical population of this study consisted of middle-aged women in Isfahan city. A total of 344 individuals were selected as the research sample using convenience sampling, and they completed the Middle-Aged Women's Happiness Questionnaire by Shin et al. (2021), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess structural validity, Pearson correlation coefficient was employed for convergent validity, and Cronbach's alpha was used to measure reliability using SPSS and AMOS software.
Results: The results of the study showed that Cronbach's alpha coefficients for the overall happiness score and its components ranged from 0.819 to 0.937, indicating good reliability of the questionnaire. All factor loadings of the items were significant at p < 0.01, and the model fit indices were at an acceptable level, confirming the validity of the questionnaire's structure. Furthermore, there was a significant positive relationship between the study's components and happiness and life satisfaction, demonstrating convergent validity of the questionnaire.
Conclusion: Overall, the findings of the study suggest that the Persian version of the Middle-Aged Women's Happiness Questionnaire can be used for clinical and research purposes.
