Family Communication Pattern and Parents and Children Conflicts

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the way that family communication pattern and conflict style relating to each other. Method: The participants included 206 university students from Shahid Beheshti University. In order to get data, Ritchie Revised Family Communication Pattern (RFCP) and Rahim’s Organization conflict inventory were used. Data were investigated by canonical correlation method in SPSS 16. Results: The results showed that in relation with father, the boys with high conversation used integrating and obliging methods, while the girls used Integrating and Compromising. Also the boys with high conformity used compromising, Avoiding and dominating methods, while the girls with high conformity used dominating and obliging methods. In relation with mother, the boys and the girls with high conversation used Integrating methods, while the boys with high conformity used obliging and dominating methods and the girls used avoiding obliging and dominating methods. Conclusion: In overall it seems conversation always come with useful Integrating method, but most of the time conformity predict using useless methods such as Dominating and Avoiding
