The effectiveness of Self-Compassion focused Therapy on Anger Management and self – Efficacy and of Women With addicted husband in Mashhad city

Abstract

The present research is aimed at investigating the effectiveness of self-compassion Self-Compassion focused Therapy on anger control, and self-efficacy in women with addicted husband in the Mashhad. The research was a semi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design. The population included all the women with addicted husbands who had referred to addiction treatment centers. 30 people were selected by purposive convenience sampling. 15 people were randomly assigned to the experimental and control group. The questionnaires: Spielberger’s anger control (1999), Schwartz and Jerusalem’s general self-efficacy (1982) were used. The experimental group received self-compassion training program for eight 120-minute sessions. The results of multivariate analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of externalized anger and internalized anger in the two groups. The mean of externalized anger and internalized anger scores decreased in the intervention group and The results of covariate analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of self- efficacy in the two groups. The mean of self- efficacy scores increased in the intervention group.
