Mediating Role of Self-esteem for Quality of Life and at Risk Behavior

Abstract

The aim of this study was to check the mediating role of self-esteem for quality of life and at risk behavior. The sample consisted of 300 college students in Marvdasht Branch of Islamic Azad University. The sampling method was multistage cluster sampling. The World Health of Quality of Life Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Questionnaire, and Young's Risk Behaviors Scale were used in this study. The results of path analysis revealed that self-esteem has a significant mediating role for quality of life and at risk behavior. Also the results showed that quality of life has significant direct and indirect effect for at risk behavior. In sum, high quality of life leads to low at risk behavior and low self-esteem is associate with high level of at risk behavior.
