Psychometric Properties of the Persian Version of the Balanced Emotional Empathy Scale

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to exam the psychometric properties of the Persian from of the Balanced Emotional Empathy Scale (BEES). Method: The sample consisted of 142 staff of the KOMA Factory in Shiraz. The Persian version of the Balanced Emotional Empathy Scale was used in this study. Principle component factor analysis was run to test the factor structure of the BEES. Results: The results of the factor analysis revealed a six factor structure for the BEES named: relational empathy, expressive empathy, cooperative empathy, to be moved by others' emotional experience, emotional stability, and empathy with other. Correlation coefficients of the subscale with the total scale of the BEES showed a good convergent and divergent validity for the subscales of the BEES. Also the test-retest reliability revealed a acceptable reliability for the BEES. Conclusion: In sum the study showed that the Persian version of the BEES is useful research instrument.
