Abstract

The aim of the present study was to determine the validation of the child’s Challenging Behavior Scale (CCBS)for mothers of school-aged children with special needs.Descriptive-survey and validation research methods’, developing an instrument one was used. The sample consisted of 100 mothers of special needs children were selected from the special schools by based on the in-reach sampling. Measuring instruments were the Child’s Challenging Behavior Scale (CCBS), Strength, and Difficult Questionnaire (SDQ) and Satisfaction with life Scale (SWLS). The CCBS demonstrated high internal consistency. A re-administration of the measure 1 month later yielded high correlation (P<0.001). The scale was assessed using factor analysis and principle component method (KMO = 0.86). In total, this one factor accounted for 43.41% of the total variance. Confirmative factor analysis approved the results of exploratory factor analysis based on the oblimin rotation. In addition, this model was found fit with the data. Pearson’s correlation between CCBS, SDQ, SWLS and were respectively and confirming their convergent, divergent and concurrent validity. Results of this study showed Persian version of CCBS has good psychometrics.
